Short Term Rental Business License
The Greene County Board of Commissioners voted Monday, October 2, 2017, to revise the Zoning Ordinance for Greene County to establish provisions that allow for the use of single-family residential homes as short-term rental businesses. Prior to the passage of the aforementioned revisions to the Zoning Ordinance, operation of a short term rental business in single-family residential areas was not a permissible use, and thus the rental activity has been in violation of the Greene County Zoning Ordinance.
The adopted revisions require that short term rentals, if not qualified under Section 220.127.116.11, must be situated in a “Short Term Rental Overlay District” in order to continue to operate as a short term rental business after September 1, 2018.
The adopted revisions also require licensure of a short term rental business, remittance of sales taxes and hotel/motel taxes, filing of certain forms, and other steps that must be met immediately. Below is a link to the adopted ordinance provisions as well as the necessary forms that must be completed and returned to Greene County.
