Building Inspection & Zoning

This department enforces the minimum Building Codes via trained staff performing inspections. This office also handles Zoning Ordinance administration with the Planning & Zoning Board, among other duties.


Part of the Building Inspection & Zoning department, GIS/Mapping keeps parcel information up-to-date, maintains the official zoning map, and produces various maps for Greene County government, law enforcement, state agencies, businesses, citizens, and many others. 

Tax Assessor

The county appraisal staff is responsible for the appraisal for tax purposes of all taxable property, real and personal, that the county board of assessors is required to assess. The county appraisal staff shall be responsible for the proper maintenance of all tax records and maps for the county in a proper and current condition, and the staff shall have custody of such records. Tax Commissioner

The responsibility of the Tax Commissioner's Office is to bill and collect ad valorem taxes due on:

  • Motor Vehicles,
  • Real and Personal Property,
  • Utilities,
  • Timber,
  • and Mobile Homes.

As an agent for the Georgia Department of Motor Vehicles, this office also issues tags and renewal decals for all Greene County residents' vehicles.
