***The vaccination distribution is being handled by the Georgia Department of Public Health.  The information contained in this article comes from resources on the Georgia Department of Public Health’s website and the Northeast Heath District website.  The Greene County Board of Commissioner’s has no role in how many vaccines are received into the county, who receives them or which providers will be providing the vaccinations.  The information is being provided as a reference only.

Greene County is part of the Northeast Heath District which consists of the Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe and Walton County Health Departments.

Who is Currently Eligible?

Georgia is currently in Phase 1A+ of the vaccine distribution.  Level 1A+ includes healthcare workers, including nurses, physicians, EMS, laboratory technicians, environmental services, long-term care facilities (LTCF) staff and residents, adults 65+ and their caregivers, law enforcement, fire personnel (including volunteer fire departments, dispatchers and 9-1-1 operators.

Based on ACIP/CDC Guidelines – Priority areas are subject to updates as the situation changes.

How Do I Get Vaccinated for COVID-19?

The Northeast Health District is prioritizing COVID-19 vaccine appointments for those who live or work in the district.  If you do not live or work in the Northeast Health District, you are encouraged to contact your local health department or health district.  The Georgia Department of Health has a page dedicated to locating Participating Vaccine Sites.

Pre-registration for non-healthcare workers and 65+ is open; however, there is currently NO TIMELINE for when appointments will be available for those in any priority group other than 1A+ will be available.

To request an appointment, complete the appropriate form.  The links for the forms for both non-healthcare workers and healthcare workers are provided below the article.  Appointments can also be made by calling 706-340-0996; however, they are receiving thousands of calls and hold times are VERY long. The best option is to complete the online form.  Anyone who is eligible and submits a registration form will be called within a few days to schedule an appointment.

All information on the form must be completed.  Each person will need to pre-register separately.

If you are completing the form prior to your priority group access, once they are ready to vaccinate your priority group, you will be contacted. Check your email and SPAM folders regularly.
